ANNUAL REPORT 2006-07

Chairman’s Report

To Follow

Secretary’s Report
A historic season for the club on the pitch (Well done Roy and the 5th team) and 61 disciplinary points (a club record). Away from the playing field we received fines totalling 85 pounds for various misdemeanours, two late kick off’s, two results not phoned in on time and one of 20 pounds down to me when I failed to fill in a form correctly. As well as dealing with the paperwork generated by the above I’ve spent the season fending off various “League Officials” all of whom had a complaint to make. “Spirit of Football” Are you with us? The opening line to one late night call I received. The latest communication from the AFC informs us that they expect an improved disciplinary record next season and we are to inform them by June 27th what steps we will be taking to achieve this. Step one is to make permanent the rule amendment (see agenda above) introduced temporarily during the season. However I doubt this will be enough either for the league, or to address the problem.

2nd Team
6th out of 11 - P24 W9 D5 L10 GD-12 - Team Ratings - SOF 7.08 / ORG 7.75 / FAC 6.83 / HOS 6.82

To be blunt the season was rubbish and I can’t say it any plainer. Knowing the quality of the team, finishing 6th was a big disappointment. Can it be blamed on ill discipline? Dunno, personnel? Dunno, players who thought they were better than they are? Dunno. Could it have been all of the above? Whatever the problem is it needs changing for next season if we’re to finish where I expect us to. Players will be brought in. Players will move up and players will go down and some may not want to talk to me and play at all. Such is life!
Enough moaning, well done to Greene for hitting a personal best of 17 and to Neville for hitting 16; again a PB and for being named players player. Runako & Wayne, what can I say, they’re looking for extras in Gladiator 2. Well done Ronnie for improving 80% on your 1st training session when it appeared all you wanted to do was tricks and flicks like Ritchie Neville. Sorry you’re leaving but education comes first. Sideline! You know who you are; we need you to play more football. Steve and Anton, midfield enforcers, goals goals goals next season.
Let’s hope next season we etch our name in Manorians history and win some trophies.
Marvin Blake.

3rd Team
9th out of 11 - P22 W5 D3 L14 GD-38 - Team Ratings - SOF 7.47 / ORG 7.55 / FAC 7.18 / HOS 7.45

After having three different captains and using countless amounts of players it has been a tough season for the 3's. We had a good pre-season and started well with a strong team producing good performances taking us top of the table. Unfortunately it went downhill from there losing 6 main players at one point to long term injuries and Jim Dees being in panto for the whole of December. While our cup runs both ended in the first rounds we started dropping down the league and the 2nd half of the season was spent making sure we had a team out every week using players from all corners unfortunately sacrificing quality, but we battled on and had a great laugh all the way playing some great football, scoring some memorable goals and winning some hard fought victories. I'd like to thank my skipper and right hand man Lee Shane, Rob Waldron & Andy Leadbetter for their support & inspiring team talks, Dom for his dressing room antics and everyone else who put on a 3's shirt this year well done and cheers.
Tony Timthong

4th Team
2nd out of 11 - P23 W17 D2 L4 GD+57 - Team Ratings - SOF 7.28 / ORG 7.30 / FAC 7.10 / HOS 5.40

5th Team
1st out of 9 - P27 W21 D4 L2 GD+46 - Team Ratings - SOF 7.81 / ORG 7.70 / FAC 7.10 / HOS 7.70

The season was a great one for the 5th team with medals in all competitions entered. After a slow start in the league due to cup runs we finally nailed the league title with a double header on May 12th. Previously we were runners up in the Nemean cup on penalties; this stopped us from the treble. The highlight was winning the AFA cup in its 100th year and making club history.
Roy Marett

6th Team
8th out of 10 - P20 W4 D2 L14 GD-48 - Team Ratings - SOF 8.33 / ORG 8.11 / FAC 7.67 / HOS 8.44

No pressure this year on the team to avoid relegation as we were already in the bottom division. This doesn't mean to say that we didn't battle every week to try and reach mid-table mediocrity. We did! And eventually managed to climb to 8th spot. Credit this year has to go to boys like Webby and Amar who are better known for their cricket skills than football skills but battled hard, put in more appearances than most the other regulars in the side and improved tremendously as the season went on. Well done! Also worth a mention are Buckley, Murphy and Edwards. All new to Manorians this year and great assets to the team club and bar. Let's hope we can persuade more like them to join the club in the future.
Tony Walsh
